Kitchen Cabinet Painting Services
Specialist cabinet respraying for South Hampstead Victorian terraces and Belsize Park period kitchens. Factory-quality finish without the cost of a full refit.
Spray-Painted Doors
Spray application delivers a smooth, consistent finish that brush and roller cannot match. It eliminates roller texture on flat panels and brush lines on shaker profiles.
We remove all doors and drawer fronts, spray off-site or in a sealed area, and refit once cured. We mask all adjacent surfaces, including period plasterwork, coving, and exposed brickwork.
Solid Wood vs MDF Cabinets
Solid wood and MDF behave differently under paint. Solid wood can raise grain if not properly primed. MDF absorbs primer heavily on cut edges.
Hardwood requires an oil-based primer for adhesion, followed by two finish coats. MDF takes a water-based primer system and cures faster. We assess door material at the site visit before specifying the system.
Colour Selection
Cabinet colour has the largest visual impact in a kitchen. We advise on colour in context of worktops, splashback, floor, and natural light. Dark cabinet colours in north-facing kitchens can make the room feel smaller.
We work with Farrow and Ball, Little Greene, and RAL references. See our interior painting page for colour guidance and dining room painting for coordinating schemes.
Cabinet Painting vs Replacement
A full kitchen replacement typically costs £12,000 to £35,000. Cabinet respraying costs a fraction of that. If the carcasses are sound and the layout works, respraying is the most cost-effective route.
We advise honestly at the site visit. Where fronts are sound but cosmetically dated, spraying delivers a result visually indistinguishable from a new kitchen.
Worktops and Carcasses
We can paint carcasse interiors in the same session as the door fronts. White or light-toned interiors with dark door fronts is a common combination. We mask and protect existing worktops during the spray session.
Worktop painting is not something we offer. We focus on doors, drawer fronts, and carcasse interiors. For built-in shelving, see our home office painting page.

Here’s How It Works
1. Site Assessment
We assess door material, condition, hinge type, and spray setup access at your property.
2. Masking
We mask period plasterwork, coving, worktops, appliances, and all adjacent surfaces thoroughly.
3. Primer Coat
We apply the correct primer system. Oil-based for hardwood, water-based for MDF.
4. First Finish Coat
Applied by spray to doors and drawer fronts. Cured for 24 to 48 hours before the second coat.
5. Second Coat and Refit
Final coat applied, doors refitted once fully cured. Final inspection before we leave.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting Costs in London
Prices below are estimates only. Every project is different. Call 020 4634 9779 for a precise quote.

What Drives the Price
Number of doors and drawers is the primary factor. A 10-door kitchen costs less than a 20-door kitchen with island. Material and condition also matter — solid wood in good condition costs less than MDF with chips requiring additional preparation.
A dark-to-light or light-to-dark colour change requires more primer coats and adds cost. We account for all of this in the initial quote.
